Linear low-density polyethylene (LLDPE) consumes less energy and has a higher output compared to regular low-density polyethylene (LDPE). In particular, its physical and chemical properties are significantly better than those of regular LDPE. ▲ The following are the classifications of PE materials: (1) LDPE: Low-density polyethylene, high-pressure polyethylene (2) LLDPE: Linear low-density polyethylene (3) MDPE: Medium-density polyethylene, bimodal resin (4) HDPE: High-density polyethylene, low-pressure polyethylene ▲ The higher crystallinity of LLDPE results in products with greater rigidity. This higher crystallinity also increases the melting point of LLDPE by 10-15°C compared to LDPE. LLDPE features higher tensile strength, puncture resistance, tear resistance, and elongation, making it particularly suitable for film production. ▲ In terms of transparency, LLDPE shares a similar drawback with LDPE: LLDPE films have poor haze and gloss due to higher crystallinity causing roughness on the film surface. The transparency of LLDPE resins can be improved by blending with a small amount of LDPE. 【Main Applications of LLDPE】 ▲ LLDPE has penetrated most traditional polyethylene markets, including films, molding, pipes, and wire cables (producing bags, garbage bags, stretch wraps, industrial liners, toweling liners, and shopping bags). 【LLDPE Injection Molding Process】 ▲ Both LDPE and LLDPE exhibit excellent rheological or melt flow properties. LLDPE has lower shear sensitivity due to its narrow molecular weight distribution and short side chains. During shearing processes (such as extrusion), LLDPE maintains higher viscosity, making it more difficult to process compared to LDPE with the same melt index. ▲ In extrusion, the lower shear sensitivity of LLDPE allows polymer chains to relax stress faster, reducing the sensitivity of physical properties to changes in blow-up ratio. In melt extension, LLDPE typically has lower viscosity at various strain rates.
